Protect yourself while trading on CounterTrader.

The 5 Golden Rules

  1. Never share your private keys or seed phrase — CounterTrader will NEVER ask for them
  2. Double-check addresses before sending any funds
  3. Use escrow for trades with unknown counterparties
  4. Verify before you trust — Check reputation and trade history
  5. Start small — Test with low-value trades first

What CounterTrader Can Access

What We CAN See

  • • Your Telegram username and ID
  • • Wallet addresses you connect (public info)
  • • Your public blockchain balances
  • • Listings and trades you create
  • • Messages you send to the bot

What We CANNOT See

  • • Your private keys
  • • Your seed phrase / recovery words
  • • Your wallet passwords
  • • Funds in wallets you haven't connected
  • • Your other Telegram conversations

We NEVER Ask For:

  • • Private keys or seed phrases
  • • Wallet passwords
  • • Remote access to your computer
  • • Payment outside of escrow system

⚠️ If anyone claiming to be CounterTrader support asks for these, it's a SCAM.

Recognizing Scams

1. Impersonation

Scammer creates lookalike accounts: @countertrader_support (fake), @SamahdiSpeaks (swapped letters), @CounterTrader_Admin (fake)

✓ Official bot: @countertrader_io_bot • Official admin: @SamadhiSpeaks • Official group: @CounterTrader

2. Fake Support DMs

"Support" DMs you first offering help.

✓ Real support never DMs first. You contact us.

3. "Send funds to verify"

Scammer says send a small amount to "verify" your wallet.

✓ Verification uses cryptographic signatures, not transfers.

4. Too-Good-To-Be-True Prices

Listing at 90% below floor price.

✓ Use escrow. If they refuse escrow, walk away.

5. Urgency Pressure

"Deal expires in 5 minutes!" or "Last one available!"

✓ Legitimate sellers don't pressure like this.

6. Outside-Platform Trading

"Let's trade directly, escrow fees are too high"

✓ No escrow = no protection. Always use escrow for new counterparties.

Red Flags Checklist

  • ⚠️ Contacted you first (unsolicited)
  • ⚠️ Asks to trade outside escrow
  • ⚠️ Requests private keys or seed phrase
  • ⚠️ Unusual urgency or pressure
  • ⚠️ Price way below market
  • ⚠️ New account with no history
  • ⚠️ Refuses to use official bot
  • ⚠️ Asks for "verification payment"
  • ⚠️ Username slightly different from official

If any boxes checked: Proceed with extreme caution or walk away.

Safe Trading Practices

Before Trading

  1. Check reputation: /profile @username
  2. Verify the asset on Tokenscan
  3. Check market prices: /orderbook ASSETNAME

During Trading

  1. Use escrow for unknown counterparties
  2. Double-check addresses — compare first AND last characters
  3. Verify amounts match agreement
  4. Save transaction IDs

After Trading

  1. Verify receipt on block explorer
  2. Report issues immediately to @SamadhiSpeaks
  3. Leave trade open until fully confirmed

Trust Hierarchy

Trust Level Trading Method When to Use
No Trust Escrow only New counterparties
Low Trust Escrow Few successful trades
Medium Trust Escrow or P2P Multiple successful trades
High Trust P2P Long-term trading partners

When in doubt, use escrow. The escrow fee (1-5% depending on provider) is worth the protection.
